Himalaya has partnered with Sarthak Educational Trust to create the demand for a skilled workforce of people with disabilities in various industries by conducting employment drives. The trust provides candidates with vocational training to acquire the competencies and skills required to perform a particular job. , equipping them to be job ready.
The vocational skills building included a training program which was divided into two models: the Residential Model and the Non-residential Model. In the Residential Model, beneficiaries participated in 90 days of training lasting 4.5 hours per day, and in the Non-residential Model, beneficiaries participated in 60 days of training lasting 8 hours per day.
The training was divided into four parts, including basic skill-building, sector-specific training, pre-employment training, and on-the-job training and placement. The training prepared 19 participants with the job skills required to gain sustainable employment. The success story of these beneficiaries highlights that people with disabilities have a great commitment and determination.
